Inspired by my time living in and and traveling between the near-unbroken flatness of the Upper-Midwest and the rocky landscape of my home in the Southwest, Flatland explores the macroscopic structures of the terrain from an aerial vantage point. From this perspective the landscape is evocative of the extraterrestrial topography of a distant planet, visible through the circular portholes of some space-faring craft. Entangled in this exploration of space and geography are my own feelings of otherness as I move between familiar and unfamiliar spaces.
